Playing for Change

March 15th, 2009 / Filed Under: Random Thoughts -Uplifting /

Do yourself a favor and watch this ENTIRE 5 minute video. You’ll be very glad you did. Given the crazy times we all live in today and the recent strife experienced by so many, it’s pretty uplifting to see an organization focusing on bringing joy to the masses, even at its most elemental level. This video was done by a group called Playing for Change. Their mission is to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music.

Quoting one of the artists in the film, Roger Ridley, these people, much like him, are “in the JOY business” and I see great dividends in their future.

Looking beyond limitations, walls, and current situations of doubt, we benefit ourselves by benefiting others and seeking to speak and relate to each other in a universal voice.

Enjoy.

This is soooooooo great. Thank you. Love the mission statement. Also love the concept of being “in the JOY business”…I lived and traveled through Turkey and the Middle East for a year and although there are differences etc., from me as an American I can attest (and can never attest too loudly!) that joy is where it is at! The vast majority of people want to be able to put food on their table, give a good life to their children, and feel appreciated for the work they do. It is actually quite simple and beautiful. All this political mumbo jumbo is madening, frustrating etc…Let’s all do our best to be in the JOY business!! Woooo hooooo!

  6. Thanks Elijah! I agree, sometimes, it’s about listening to your inner voice and realizing that we’re all in this crazy world together no matter what. As I travel and notice differences, I find that I also notice so many more similarities. It’s easy to get caught up in the struggle and the race for correctness, dominance, glory, profit, possessions, etc. but fundamentally, we all have the same needs, wants and goals. The way I see it, being in the JOY business – allows us all to “play” a part, make a change and increase the smile factor.

Be real, spread the JOY and make a difference – in whatever you do.
